I think the information exchange that Jeff E and Jeff Barson have facilitated is one of the greatest things I have seen in the past few years. When the Sona Med Spa franchise imploded I was left “all by myself” and I know what it feels like. There are a number of highly talented individuals in MAPA and it has been wonderful to see the spirit of sharing and helpfulness!! -- RB

Thanks, MAPA is getting more valuable by the day -- PB

I am a "MAPA" member and over the last few months, I have only been amazed at Dr. Epstein's energy and generosity in starting this group. I have been enlightened by the numerous email exchanges from the group members on various topics. I have been invitied to attend FREE seminars at his office which I have not been able to fit in my schedule yet. I think everyone involved in MAPA is looking to help grow their practices and expand their knowledge. It's a wonderful collegial atmosphere where any question can be asked and anyone can offer their opinion.
Regarding the statment that training only be offered by "core" physicians, let me tell you that "core" physicians often close their doors to "non-core" physicians such as myself (IM). I have been denied access to the ASDS meeting. A few years ago I was able to attend with a letter of sponsorship from a member (Dr. Richard Fitzpatrick of SkinMedica!) It was a great meeting . The next year, the rules had changed - "Core" physicians only, no exceptions. I believe the "Cosmetic Boot Camp" is restricted to "core" physicians. I have personally been turned down for preceptorships.
I received my Botox training from an expert injector and Family Practioner, Dr. Mark Bailey of Canada. I did my first filler training with a PA in the Phoenix area. I've had numerous additional training sessions with the trainers from both Juvederm and Radiesse. None of them were core physicians. A year ago, I spent a very expensive day in a Plastic Surgeons office who offers training. While it was interesting, I did little more than look over his shoulder all day. What matters most in training is how well does the trainer know his/her stuff and how effective of a teacher are they!
For us physicians (core and non-core) who are dedicated to learning and perfecting this art and science, MAPA is a godsend. For those looking entering the Medcial Spa field to make a quick buck, they would not be interested in this exchange or Dr. Epstein's training. -- IM

This weekend's Advanced Conference was really well worth attending. As providers we all want to deliver the highest quality services possible to the largest patient population we can reach. Quite aside from all the "pearls" that were shared by various members of this group, we were really privileged to have recieved a veritable wealth of information regarding web marketing strategies. Personally, I am already working on implementing some of the recommendations for website design, context, etc. Great job Jeff! -- NF

Today's brief discussion about the "thread lift" is a great example of how helpful the group information sharing can be. For almost any question, device or procedure someone is considering, someone in MAPA has probably already been there and can share his/her experiences and opinion -- RB

What a great conference! It was like home coming. I met so many that share the same vision and frustrations. The information provided was exactly what I was craving to hear. The conference was well thought out and organized. I've attended many laser courses, workshops and webinars. But none of them provided the practical information needed to run a successful Clinic or Med spa like this one. There was so much real information on each topic that my head was spinning. They also have been very good with following up and answering my questions by email. I wish I had a support group like this when I started my Clinic. Unfortunately I had to miss the big portion of the exciting Internet Marketing Lecture because I was on the phone. Is there anyway that I can receive the presentation or summary by email? Again, special thanks to Peter and Jeff for their generosity and the leadership. -- JL

What a pleasure it was to meet physicians and aestheticians with such a passion for their practice. It was evident that the main point of this conference was ensuring patient satisfaction by continuing education in the aesthetic field. Participants collaberated on best practices. Not only are they the experts in their field, but they continue to build upon each others' knowledge; these are the people that go the extra mile to ensure they are doing everything possible to exceed patients' expectations. Thank you for allowing Skin Script Products to present its philisophy on skin care ingredients and the treatment of skin conditions. You can always call on me with your skin care ingredient questions. -- LVB

We flew across the country for this conference and it was well worth the time. Big kudos for you, Dr. Epstein, for hosting this at absolutely no charge to us with all meals covered. My favorite part of the conference was all the marketing ideas. The section on internet search marketing was given by a genius on the internet. Tons of ideas that will give us instant benefit. Dr. Fairfield was also filled with good ideas on marketing your practice and not discounting services during times of recession. You had to be there! -- TG

Are you a med spa or cosmetic practice owner who feels that you've been traveling this path alone, trying to figure out the best marketing, clinical and operational strategies? Or perhaps you've spent thousands on so called consulting companies that promise to deliver hundreds of patients and revenues that will put you on the path to early retirement? I attended this past weekend meeting in Cherry Hill at Dr. Epstein's office and I was amazed. Dr. Epstein and his staff went WAY above and beyond putting this meeting together. From extensive notes and handouts provided to clinical and marketing pearls, it did not disappoint. I learned many new things and had many of my ideas validated. It was a breath of fresh air to be with colleagues with similar goals and needs, free from commercial bias that is so often found at official "society" meetings. It was a truly multidisciplinary gathering in which everyone was working towards bring our patients the best, safest results possible by sharing our clinical experiences and sharing ideas to make our practices more successful. I look forward to further online discussions as well as our next in person meeting.
Thanks again Dr. Epstein for all you did in putting this together and please pass my thanks to your staff as well. -- FD

The conference was great, Dr. Epstein and team did a great job organizing it to make sure topics are relevant. The in depth medical discussion on different treatments led by Dr. Epstein on darker skin types, acne treatment, fraxel treatments on melasma etc are critical to any practitioner. Dr. Kevin Do's talk on skin tightening convinced me any of the lasers are just tools, and only the masters can do it well. I am very impressed with how Lisa VanBockern started her own SkinScript product line, through trial and error, she figured out ways to treat melasma, hyperpigmentation using natural lighteners etc. I got practical tips of running a clinic, and I am in touch with the experts I got to know at the conf.
Dr. Epstein, I am coming to the next one, make sure it happens sooner. -- SU

Jeff and Peter went above and beyond any expectations one could have imagined. The conference was well thought out, informative and anyone who didn't attend missed out. I would encourage all like minded professionals to mark this as a must attend on their agenda in the future. The more people with similar interests in mind attend in the future, the more we can learn and grow in this exciting field of medicine. -- SA |
