Acne Treatment without Accutane The New “Gold Standard” Treatment
October 2007 Acne Treatment
If standard Acne Treatment had worked for you, you probably would not be reading this Special Report on Acne Treatment. You might be reading this because you don’t want to take Accutane or can’t tolerate Accutane’s side effects. You have probably tried lots of acne treatment programs with variable results. We want to introduce you to the “gold standard” acne treatment program which does not involve Accutane. It is very effective for all types of acne - mild acne to severe, cystic acne. This method relies on Photodynamic Levulan Therapy combined with Laser Treatments. What is Acne
Acne results from clogged, infected sebaceous glands. Sebaceous glands produce sebum. In acne, the cells of the sebaceous duct do not migrate up and out normally. This obstructs the pilosebaceous unit allowing sebum to accumulate abnormally. Bacteria thrive in the environment. The combination of sebum, bacteria and accumulated duct cells leads to pimples, white heads, black heads, papules, pustules and cysts. Photodynamic Acne Therapy with Levulan Photodynamic Acne Therapy (PDT) involves the topical application of a compound which is toxic to the sebaceous gland. Levulan (ALA) is “painted” on the face, back or chest and it is absorbed and concentrated in the active sebaceous glands. The levulan is then activated by a Blue Light (the BLU-U) and/or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). The light energy is converted by the ALA to Singlet Oxygen which disables and destroys the sebaceous glands and the bacteria in the gland. These Levulan treatments are done three times, three weeks apart. Some patients require more than three Levulan treatments. In addition, five to ten Laser Treatments are done with the MedLite 1064 Laser to further disable and destroy the sebaceous glands and the bacteria. These Laser treatments are done on a weekly basis.
