Strict Sun Avoidance for Patients with Melasma
Use Tinted Glass on Car Windows to block UVA Light
UVA and UVB Light Penetrate Clouds so avoid Sun even on Cloudy Days
Sunscreens must block UVA and UVB and have Physical Blockers like Zinc Oxide
Use Physical Sun Blockers like Wide Brimmed Hats, Umbrellas, Shade Trees and Sunglasses
Remember that light reflects off of white sand, snow and white pavements
Remember that Chemical Sunscreens must be applied 30 minutes prior to going in the Sun (they must be activated)
Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours AND after swimming or sweating
The sun is strongest between 10 am and 4 pm (avoid the sun during these hours).
