Cosmelan® Depigmentation treatment is intended to dramatically reduce the
appearance of pigmentation and uneven skin tone resulting from Melasma,
acne scarring and other dermal pigmentation.  Cosmelan® has been
successful in addressing pigmentation previously non-responsive to
treatment.  This treatment has an in-office and an “at home” component.

Cosmelan® Depigmentation treatment action mechanism is based on the
inhibition of tyrosinase, a basic enzyme in the melanin formation process.
Several of the substances present in the Cosmelan® formula act by blocking
this enzyme, or even by inverting the metabolic process of the transformation

ONE WEEK after starting the Cosmelan® Depigmentation treatment, a
noticeable significant improvement of the skin is observed! The reduction of

disappear altogether, so that, although the you may be able to “locate” the

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FOR THE PATIENT
The Cosmelan® Depigmentation treatment initiated at the medical office must
be continued at home, on a daily basis, according to the guidelines indicated.
The treatment must not be interrupted under any circumstances, during the
whole time prescribed.
It is completely forbidden to combine the Cosmelan® Depigmentation
treatment with other depigmentation treatments, as the appearance of
undesired effects cannot be guaranteed.
Treatment control visits are recommended. 8 days after beginning of
treatment, 15 days after, and a follow up visit every month thereafter.

TREATMENT APPLICATION - Cosmelan® Depigmentation treatment
Cosmelan® is a mask applied at the dermatology office and remains on your
face 4 to 10 hours depending on the indication.  The mask is washed off at
home and you may expect three to five days of light to heavy peeling, redness
and sensitivity.  After the third or fourth day, the skin appears healthy and
luminous and the marks begin to fade.

HOME TREATMENT - Cosmelan® 2 Maintenance Cream
The second phase of the Cosmelan® treatment consist of a home
maintenance cream Cosmelan 2® with the intention of securing the
depigmentation by association of agents such as Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, and
Vitamin C. We have added a physical agent to block the sun and guarantee
that the UV rays do not keep on aggravating unwanted cutaneous hyper
pigmentation.  Cosmelan 2® cream should be applied 2 times per day during
the first two weeks, and once a day from the third week on for several months
depending on the indication as directed by the physician to achieve an
optimum depigmentation response.

We often reserve some Cosmelan® 1 Mask for a “touch-up” application if
necessary in one month.  This helps achieve excellent results on even the
most stubborn areas.
